»I’ve been watchin‘ you for some time
Can’t stop staring at those ocean eyes
Burning cities and napalm skies
Fifteen flares inside those ocean eyes
Your ocean eyes«
Opening our eyes - to the world and to solidarity between people – this is the aim of this multi-year #eyeswideforlove project, in which artists of all genres as well as artistically active and interested people in Dresden and around the world can participate.
As part of the CANTINE VIVANTE charity festival, the urban art project EYESWIDEFORLOVE will enter a new phase from Saturday 18 March with artistic contributions from liz_art_berlin, MILCHMANN, Mr SaSa, Andy K, Chris Löhmann and Zuckerbande, curated by Andy K.
The playful and surreal contributions by the well-known and popular artists of the paste-up explore the motif of the eyes, mindfulness in our dealings with each other and with this world, both poetically and with clear messages. The new paste-ups turn the path between St. Petersburger Straße and the robotron canteen into an event of discovery and precise perception. (Attention when viewing: cyclists!)
#eyeswideforlove is the second stage of the urban art project initiated by Kunsthaus Dresden and SPIKE Dresden e. V. on the construction fence of the robotron canteen.
People from Dresden and all over the world are invited to take part in the project. The central starting point of the project is a 300 metre long construction fence between the Deutsches Hygiene-Museum, robotron canteen and Dresden City Hall, which will surround the construction site of a future residential district in the middle of the city for several years.
The project partners
The Kunsthaus Dresden is the municipal gallery for contemporary art and is committed to a local and global exchange on contemporary art with art projects in public space. Projects of international contemporary art in changing collaborations provide insights into the world's art scene and in 2022 will organise art projects on the site and in the robotron canteen.Spike Dresden is a youth, cultural and integration centre and is a contact point for hip-hop culture with its SPIKE Urban offer. The aim of its extensive activities is to recognise creative potential, value it and support its development. The German Hygiene Museum sees itself as a »museum of people« and critically examines current issues in science, culture and society with its exhibitions and events.Gateway AG owns the site and is developing a new quarter in the heart of Dresden with buildings for living and working close to the city centre between the town hall, the Hygiene Museum and the large garden.
